Skills	Essential	Desirable
Qualification	Professional qualification in Social Work and/or Professional qualification in Counselling, i.e. Diploma in Counselling	Mediation skills qualification
Experience	Minimum of two years post qualification experience Experience of working in adoption field and/or intermediary and reunion work	Specialist in post adoption service Experience of working independently for the voluntary sector
Specialist Knowledge	Key frameworks surrounding identity concepts of the individual and within families	Understanding of the implications of genetic relationships. Understanding of the long term implications of infertility and infertility treatments.
Skills	Ability to demonstrate core counselling skills and work around loss. Ability to demonstrate telephone contact skills. Willingness to participate in on-going learning. Willingness to participate in long distance supervision. To keep appropriate records
